Still within the Finger Lakes Region is Letchworth State Park, renowned as the “Grand Canyon of the East.” Alleged to be one of the most scenically magnificent areas in the eastern U.S. The scenery and waterfalls were awesome. The Genesee River roars through the gorge over three major waterfalls between cliffs–as high as 600 feet in some places–surrounded by lush forests. Being here with the changing colors made it even more spectacular.

We were here for only one day, not near enough time to fully explore. I’d love to come back for another visit in the summer; take a hot air balloon ride through the gorge and hike the many trails.
